I have seen many webmasters spend a fortune to seo companies, to help their websites become an authority website at google. Its also amazing that this tip/info has never been discussed online, maybe the big boys want to keep it private and its one of those hush hush tips.

What is a google authority website?
I don’t know who named it “Google Authority Website” but the name itself is not important. Authority sites are websites trusted by google and have been around for awhile, since google trust these sites, it will show up in serps with extra “insite” links.

How to become a google authority website?
Well, this is the part which most seo companies don’t want you to know, its all about your daily traffic and alexa ranking. If you have a website optimized both on page and off page, plus good amount of back links, also good amount of pages/content, and isn’t penalized by search engines, then all you need to do is increase your daily traffic and alexa ranking. I would say 1000 daily visits for a period of at least 2 months, and google would start adding insite links for your website, in its serps.

How to increase your alexa ranking?
The more traffic you get, the higher your rankings at alexa will be. The fastest and cheapest way to do this, is to buy cheap traffic. The average rate going around these days is $1/1000 visitors. Of course, this method is not recommended for those using adense on their sites or any similar programs.

Why WebHostEditor isn’t an authority website!?
Well, its important to know that authority websites are only good, if you want brag about it to your friends. It also gives your website a more professional look in google serps, but it wont increase your rankings or traffic. I know this because I had a few authority websites in the past, and still have one as we speak.

I tried this tip, its not working!?
If its not working for you, then something is wrong with your website. It might be a new site, or badly optimized, not enough content/pages, maybe you used some backhats methods in the past and banned in search engines…etc

I’m sure you expected a long boring article that would go into every seo detail, but its not. Google Authority website = High Alexa Ranking

I hope you found this tip useful and good luck with your website

Many seo experts still argue, if hosting your web site on its own dedicated ip address would effect its rankings in search engines. As a seo expert myself, I would recommend hosting your website on its own dedicated ip address, based on the fact that many shared hosting companies, host hundreds of web sites “if not thousands” on one shared ip. As always, some of these hosted web sites might belong to spammers or warez users for example, so search engines would blacklist the ip address. Which in return would affect all the websites hosted on that ip address.

Dedicated IP addresses cost $1-$2 per month, so its affordable for the average joe to host his website on a dedicated ip address. What about those of us who own over 100 web sites?

You cant afford to host each website on its own dedicated ip address if you own a large amount of websites “100 for example”, you also don’t want to host all these websites on one dedicated ip address, which means disaster for those with duplicated websites such as web directories network or article directories network or general blogs network…etc

The logical solution would be to host each 4-5 websites on one ip address. So if you have 100 web sites and only 20 dedicated ip addresses, you would assign one dedicated ip address for each 5 web sites. Anyway, the minute you host more than one website on an ip, its no longer called a dedicated ip, its called a shared ip address. So the question is how to have 20 shared ip addresses on your VPS or dedicated server?

If you have a VPS/Dedicated server with WHM/CPanel, log into WHM with your root account. Look for “Reseller Center” under “Resellers”, then “Add Reseller Privileges” to any of your websites, but not the website used for your nameservers. Now one of your websites has Reseller Privileges, lets call it example.com

After you give example.com reseller privileges, click on “Manage Main Shared/Ipless IP”, now choose any IP you want “not the main server ip” and click on save. The IP you have chosen is now a shared IP address and you can host as many sites as you want on it, by going to “Change Site’s IP Address” under “Account Functions”. Of course, you can give “Reseller Privileges” for AnotherExample.com, assign a different ip to it, and host a few sites on that ip.

When you build a website, you would need a good server to host your website. When it comes to hosting, there are two kinds; one that is managed solely by you and another dedicated web server. The dedicated web server is a service provided by a server hosting company, and with that you are capable of receiving numerous benefits, if your website is one that demands high attention. Being solely responsible for a server is an extremely tedious task, especially if you have a high traffic website. A dedicated web hosting is of two kinds; managed hosting and unmanaged hosting. Let’s describe each one of them effectively.

Managed Hosting
When you seek out to buy a hosting server, you are given a choice of two plans; a managed and an unmanaged. The managed hosting is where you as an administrator don’t have to do any work at all. All server issues, trouble shooting, maintenance and upgrading is done by a dedicated team of professionals, provided by the company to maintain your site. This option is the best for naïve server administrators as they will not need to do any hard job. However, for some experienced administrator, this option means the company will have complete control over the sites. And most of the time, managed hosting could cost quite a high amount, which would not be suitable for new startup websites. Managed hosting is recommended for those websites that have high traffic and cannot be managed by one administrator alone. But it is also suitable for beginners, provided you have a good enough budget.

Unmanaged Hosting
Unmanaged hosting is where you have no team to manage your server, and you have to do 80% of server management on your own, with help and support coming only when there is a major crisis. Throughout the year, you are allowed to install your own software tools and applications. In unmanaged web hosting, you as an administrator have complete control over the sites, but you need to be very skilled and experienced to be able to handle a server on your own. Having said this, it does not mean that you are left entirely alone to deal with problems; because the company makes sure that you get enough technical support to run a website. This plan is best for business owners who also act as administrators and want complete control of the server.

Budget
As mentioned earlier, managed hosting is very posh and therefore requires a high budget. If you just have a startup website, it is suggested you do not opt for managed hosting, until and unless you have good enough budget. On the other hand, if you are a large enterprise and have a very heavy website to drive, spending a little more on good server management would not be of a waste, but rather a good investment. The main gap between the two modes of hosting is only the price. An estimate price for good managed hosting would be around $100 – $10000 depending on your hosting plan and the amount of services included. Unmanaged hosting is much below this price range.

If you want to host a good website, you obviously need a good host server, and there are two major server operating systems; Linux and Windows. People often get confused over what server OS to pick; considering that both the operating systems are powerful systems, giving equal excellent performance. It would not be fair to support one and contradict other, as there are thousands of systems that work on both the servers and maximum technical satisfaction is given by different hosting providers. So basically here, I will help you understand the features of both; instead of trying to take you in any specific direction. Hopefully, it would be beneficial to understand their features and then decide which of the two would suit you best.

Server Access
One of the basic features in web hosting is that of server access. Files on both Linux and Windows can be accessed through FTP protocols. Linux, however, offers telnet and SSH, as extra server access options. This means that, aside from transferring file direct from hard drive to web server, you can also perform actions on the files on the web server, through the telnet and SSH protocols. All you have to do is know a few UNIX commands, but these protocols are not available on the Windows hosting server.

Web Page Extensions
When it comes to web pages, both the servers accept HTML and Javascript, with only a slight difference in the extension. Linux uses “.html” whereas Windows uses “.htm”. Most people prefer the Windows form, because they can work on Frontpage extensions easily, and even though Linux also offers the same facility, it is not available on all platforms.

Scripting Language
Scripting language of the web page is very important. You need to pick a server that is compatible with your website. Linux provides support for PHP and MySql scripts, whereas Windows provide support for ASP and MS SQL. Extensions for html, CGI, pop mails, flash, audio, Javascript are all suitable with both the servers.

Cost
One reason why most people prefer Linux over Windows is its free and inexpensive services. You can always get a cheap Linux hosting, as software programs on Linux are always for free, where as Windows require you to purchase their software programs at an expensive price. More importantly, it has to be licensed by Microsoft, which is in itself a tiring process.

Security
Well, Windows does highly promote its security levels, still most administrators find it falling back on its words. Linux, because of its simple interface provides a strong security base. Windows on the other hand is more vulnerable to attacks and does not provide the needed level of security. However, Linux too has its flaws, so we cannot rule out any one of them as being 100% safe.

Conclusion
Both the servers, serves their purpose well, and you being the administrator are partly more responsible to run the site affectively, rather than being totally dependent on the server OS. Being an administrator, you need to be fluent in both the servers and given a challenge, you should be able to bring out the best of them. Overall, the operating systems do not have much of a difference, with the cost being the only gap between the two.

What is DOS-Deflate?

(D)DoS Deflate is a shell script developed by Zaf, originally for use on MediaLayer servers to assist in combating denial of service attacks. However, it was seen to be very effective for their purpose, and therefore was released as a contribution to the web hosting community. (D)DoS Deflate is now used by not only many web hosts, but by many people who run their own servers looking for additional security in dealing with such attacks.

How to install:

* Login to your server via SSH as root

* Download the script:
wget http://www.inetbase.com/scripts/ddos/install.sh

* Run the installer:
sh install.sh

Your done, ddos deflate is now installed and you can tweak its configuration at /usr/local/ddos/ddos.conf

Remember that ddos deflate will protect you from small ddos attacks, but if your under heavy ddos attacks, you will need to contact your server provider, and some of the things you also need to consider is getting a hardware firewall or increasing your server resources, so it wouldn’t crash under pressure.

More now than ever, it is important for you and your business to understand the value of a well-developed internet presence. Unlike other forms of media, which are typically limited to advertising your location and products, the internet can help your business increase sales directly through e-commerce and indirectly through the use of innovative and encompassing marketing strategies that direct customers to your website and storefronts. It’s impossible to create and maintain an internet presence without a host for your website and other elements of your internet presence, however, and recent innovations in the marketplace have created a wide variety of competitive solutions for internet hosting.

One such innovative solution is server colocation hosting, which is appropriate for large companies or companies that need a high level of flexibility and control over the technology behind their website. In colocation solutions, your business owns a server that a colocation host connects to the internet. You have complete control over the hardware installed in your server, the software and configuration your server runs, and how both hardware and software are maintained; the colocation host handles your connection to the internet as well as the provision of stable power, cooling, physical security, and many of the other necessary “secondary” costs of operating a server.

As part of their services, colocation hosts typically offer comprehensive and complimentary customer support and guarantees against your website becoming unavailable due to a failure in their facilities or internet access – which would otherwise cost you valuable traffic as an ordinary hosting company performed time-consuming maintenance… or valuable dollars as you paid technicians for an after hours emergency call to your own hosting facility.

Colocation hosts typically charge a set up or start up fee at the beginning of a contract and a monthly fee to cover the cost of rented utilities and bandwidth, but these costs tend to be cheaper over time than similar alternatives. In addition, purchasing the server itself to provide for colocation represents another necessary starting cost – but many colocation providers have package deals or provide other services to help you acquire the necessary equipment.

On the whole, colocation represents an excellent investment for companies that aren’t prepared for the costs of maintaining independent server facilities but who still require a large scope of control over their servers or the ability to serve larger numbers of concurrent customers than a traditional hosting company can handle. Choosing colocation as a hosting solution allows for businesses to keep control over the majority of their internet resources and to have a high quality and reliable level of bandwidth service that can scale up with high levels of traffic while keeping overall costs low.

However, while colocation as a general solution is an excellent investment in theory, individual colocation companies may change that. it is important to compare colocation providers, as costs – as well as quality of service, physical server location, contract terms and service guarantees, and bandwidth speed and limits – can all vary extensively from colocation host to colocation host.

If you choose wisely, however, a colocation solution can serve as a stable means of projecting an internet presence – and, by extension, improving your market strategy – for years to come.

The Loader is a .dll file or .so file (depending on the server’s operating system) which PHP uses to decode scripts encoded with the ionCube Encoder. PHP has the ability to open .dll (or .so) files at the moment a script is run. The dl function in PHP is used for this purpose. This mechanism, when used to launch the ionCube Loader, is called run-time loading.

Please note that the following steps will explain how to install ioncube loader on a linux server. Also keep in mind that you will need root shell access to the server.

1 – Download ionCube from the source to your server. Make note that the following link is for Linux 64 Bit.

wget http://downloads.ioncube.com/loader_downloads/ioncube_loaders_lin_x86-64.tar.gz

2 – Now we extract the downloaded file.

tar -zxvf ioncube_loaders_lin_x86-64.tar.gz

3 – Lets move the ioncube folder to a new permanent location.

mv ioncube /usr/local

4 – Its time to edit your php.ini file.

pico /usr/local/lib/php.ini or nano /usr/local/lib/php.ini

5 – Add the following to your php.ini file below [ZEND]

zend_extension=/usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so

6 – Now you need to restart your apache server and your done.

service httpd restart

ScanPagerank.com has come to life today, with a tool that checks your website pagerank at multi google datacenters. If you use it and your site is getting different results at each datacenter, this means your website pagerank is being updated.

Since google pagerank update is coming soon, ScanPagerank.com is a simple but powerfull tool to monitor your pagerank, keeping in mind that most of the pagerank checking sites now adays, are bugged or simply blocked by google. The most famous pagerank checker that is currently bugged/blocked by google is DigPagerank.com, which I personally used to visit alot.
