Interxion Holding NV, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced an agreement with Quod Financial, a global provider of adaptive trading technology, to locate its servers in Interxion’s City of London data centre. This allows market participants to connect cost effectively to Quod Financial’s Smart Order Routing and Connectivity solutions at Interxion.

Quod Financial delivers adaptive electronic trading products that seek liquidity across both lit and dark venues, designed to adapt to dynamic trading conditions in real time.

Interxion’s Financial Hub is centrally located between London’s leading liquidity venues and hosts an extensive community of liquidity venues, market participants and service providers to the financial services sector. This allows market participants to interconnect with their counterparties within the data centre at low latency and offers the flexibility to be able to quickly and effectively change trading strategies when required.

As Mickaël Rouillère, CTO of Quod Financial, explains, “Interxion’s City of London Financial Data Centre is the perfect location for our services. Situated in the heart of the financial markets, it offers the perfect venue for market participants to connect to all major liquidity venues.  We were attracted by Interxion’s philosophy of enabling its customers to collaborate with complementary service providers. We are pleased to offer Interxion customers connectivity to our smart order routing and algorithmic trading products, confident that Interxion’s robust and fully scalable data centre services can fully support our ambitions now and in the future.”

Greg McCulloch, MD of Interxion UK, adds, “Our strength lies in providing choice and flexibility through a broad range of connectivity options and access to a wide range of value-added services offered by the financial community located within our data centres. Due to the fragmentation of liquidity in the European markets, smart order routing is a critical trading requirement for the investment community, and we are pleased that our trading participants will be able to benefit from Quod Financial’s products and services.”

Data Center Systems today announced industry veteran Chris Crosby will join the company as President and CEO and will have a significant ownership stake in the company. Crosby joins Data Center Systems from Digital Realty Trust, the world’s largest provider of wholesale datacenters, where he was a senior executive who helped lead the company’s dramatic growth over the past several years. Data Center Systems founder and current CEO Kevin Ehringer will work alongside Crosby in the new role of Chief Technology Officer and Chairman.

“Chris is one of the most respected people in the datacenter industry not only because of what he has accomplished in his career but also because of his integrity, passion and intelligence. We are excited about Chris’ decision to join our team and his commitment to build our company into the world leader in structured cabling systems and datacenter infrastructure solutions,” said Kevin Ehringer. “This is a perfect situation for both Chris and me. I will be able to focus on things I am passionate about, determining our customers’ needs and using those insights to develop state-of-the-art solutions that exceed their expectations. In his role as President and CEO, Chris will put his business acumen and boundless energy to work driving the company’s growth. It’s a great fit, and it positions Data Center Systems for a very bright future.”

“The parallels between Data Center Systems today and Digital Realty Trust prior to the company’s IPO are remarkable: Both focus on a segment of the IT stack that is ripe for an innovative company to cut through long-standing inefficiencies and offer a solution that saves customers a huge amount of money on their datacenter projects while delivering a better environment for the customer,” said Chris Crosby. “The infrastructure solutions that Data Center Systems has pioneered have the potential to impact the industry as much as the wholesale datacenter model that Digital Realty Trust did.”

Crosby added: “Large companies can spend tens of millions of dollars on cabling and datacenter infrastructure as they build out and fill their data centers. The typical approach they use for this can be frustrating, costly and unwieldly. Simply put, it takes too long, too many resources, and too much money to get infrastructure in place to bring servers and storage online, regardless of whether it is in an existing datacenter or brand new facility. Data Center Systems has developed a tailored solution that can save companies millions of dollars on their datacenter infrastructure as well as a significant amount of time on implementations. I’m pleased to be working with Kevin and the rest of the team to pursue this significant market opportunity.”

Chris Crosby has nearly two decades of experience as an executive and thought leader in the datacenter industry. At the end of his tenure at Digital Realty Trust, Crosby was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development leading global growth initiatives for the company including its expansion into markets such as Asia-Pacific. Prior to that role, Crosby was the senior executive overseeing sales and technical services, including marketing, engineering and construction. He was a member of the team of co-founders who formed Digital Realty Trust and organized its initial public offering as the industry’s first datacenter-focused REIT in 2004. Prior to that IPO, Crosby was Managing Director of Proferian, an operating partner of GI Partners. While at Proferian, Crosby was responsible for leasing and sales within the GI Partners portfolio with an emphasis on technology-related leasing including turn-key datacenter space. Prior to that, he was a consultant for CRG West (now CoreSite), an operating partner of The Carlyle Group, formed in 2001 to oversee and enhance strategic telecom assets managed by Carlyle Realty Group. Crosby also worked for Nortel Networks, a leading supplier of products and services that support the Internet and other public and private data, voice and multimedia communications networks. Crosby earned a B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Epsilon, a marketing firm used by companies such as Best Buy, Chase, Capitol One, Tivo, and Walgreens detected an unauthorized entry into its system on Sunday. Epsilon provides marketing services to more than 2,500 companies. These companies use this vendor to send emails to their customers.

Epsilon assured the companies that the files accessed only included customer email addresses. No further sensitive information was known to have been included. Companies are fearful that the compromised Epsilon information could be used by hackers to target the customers with viruses, scams, and spam.  In released statements, many of the companies urged caution and recommended that their customers not give out any personal information through email.  Such information includes credit card numbers, social security numbers, and passwords.

It is possible that the breach could be one of the largest in history. The Dallas-based marketing firm is currently carrying out a full investigation into the matter.

A large antitrust investigation of Google might be set to be conducted by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. The decision depends on whether or not the Justice Department approves Google’s likely 700 million dollar acquisition of ITA Software Inc., a travel industry corporation.

Google currently dominates the web search industry and some have alledged that the company provides an unfair monopoly. Without naming Google specifically, FTC Commissioner Thomas Rosch stated his support last month for investigating top internet search engines. Shares in the company fell 3 percent Tuesday as fears over the possible investigation increased.

The possible antitrust investigation could be similar to the Justice Department’s 1998 investigation of Microsoft.  The European Commission previously opened up an antitrust investigation into Google in November of last year. Without specifically identifying possible litigation by the FTC, Google released a statement defending its business practices and stated that “competition is one click away on the Internet”.

Security firm Websence recently detected a mass-injection attack that could possibly affect millions of web sites.  The number of sites hit numbered in the hundreds of thousands and is being categorized as possibly one of the largest attacks in cyber history.  The mass injection began with the domain lizamoon.com and used SQL to attack sites with malicious script.

The way in which sites were compromised by the attack happened when web users were presented with an option to install Windows Stability Center, a fake virus program.  This was done after users were redirected to a rogue AV site, which contained the ability to add the malicious scripts.  Many of the sites affected included iTunes’ URLs.

Websense originally detected the mass attack on March 29th using malware detection methods.  Users are urged to avoid the installation of any web-based anti-virus software that pops up on their computer screens.  Free file checking site VirusTotal estimates that only 40% of anti-virus software programs are able to detect this virus.  Internet analysts speculate that the attack could continue on for some time.

Telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nortel stated that it will likely sell its remaining 6,000 patents to Google.  Nortel’s patents cover a range of technology pertaining to wirless and digital communications.  The Candian-based company filed for bankruptcy protection in January of 2009.

Google bid $900 million for Nortel’s patents and apps.  The deal will likely take place unless another company offers a better arrangement.  It’s presumed that Google will use some of the patents to advance apps for Android, which faces competition and a lawsuit from Oracle, a large computer technology manufacturer.

Oracle filed a patent lawsuit against Android in late 2010, claiming that some Android files are decompiled Oracle codes.  Google stated that the best way to defend against such litigation is to have a formidable patent profile.  Nortel maintained that the patents cover nearly every aspect  of telecommunication.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook and Facebook have a suit filed against them by Larry Klayman.  Klayman is the founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch and claims “”While Facebook has accomplished a lot of good, it can, as in this instance, be used for nefarious and evil purposes. Defendants Zuckerberg’s and Facebook’s callous and greedy actions in not taking down the page, but willfully allowing it to stay up for many days, has caused huge damage, for which they must be held accountable, so as to prevent this from ever happening again. They must be not only enjoined but also hit in their purse, which is where they understand matters best. Apparently, the ethically compromised Zuckerberg has no conscience or sense of right or wrong, as depicted recently in the award winning film “Social Network.” according to a press release from Standard Newswire http://www.standardnewswire.com/news/820276117.html.

Although the page in questioned, calling for a third intifada against Israel’s Jewish people was removed, Klayman felt the page wasn’t removed quickly enough and considers similar pages and related sites will reappear on Facebook.

According to Techcrunch,  Facebook declined comment but released the following statement.

“The Page, The Third Palestinian Intifada, began as a call for peaceful protest, even though it used a term that has been associated with violence in the past. In addition, the administrators initially removed comments that promoted violence. However, after the publicity of the Page, more comments deteriorated to direct calls for violence. Eventually, the administrators also participated in these calls. After administrators of the page received repeated warnings about posts that violated our policies, we removed the Page.

We continue to believe that people on Facebook should be able to express their opinions, and we don’t typically take down content that speaks out against countries, religions, political entities, or ideas.

However, we monitor Pages that are reported to us and when they degrade to direct calls for violence or expressions of hate–as occurred in this case–we have and will continue to take them down.”
