Here are the things you have to do, in order to post the initial eBay auction of yours:

1) Open a seller’s account on eBay.
If you are a buyer on eBay, you should already own your account, so simply log into your account and click on ‘Sell’ at the very top toolbar of the web page. After that, you should create your account as a seller.
If you have never been on eBay yet, a new account will need to be opened, first and foremost. This can be done by clicking on ‘register’ under the toolbar. Then, click on ‘Sell’ and then create your account as a seller. eBay will then come up with a guide that can speed along the process quite easily. To keep security, you may have to give out your bank information and credit card details for future transactions.

2) Know what you wish to sell.
If you are just starting out and experimenting on eBay, this does not matter much. Just look around you and if there’s something you no longer need in there, try posting it. This could be anything from tiny books to CDs.

3) Submit the item.
Once you click on ‘Sell’, you can start listing the items.
A category will need to be chosen. The best way to find one is to simply type what you perceive the item to be and then eBay will select it for you. Then, write a simple title along with a description. Add keywords that people would want to use in searching for it, as well as other information it may need in the box of descriptions.
Then, you will need to set a certain starting price, of which $0.01 would usually be the best since people will then be very interested in bidding for the product. Then, you will need to set a certain bidding duration, which is completely your call. The sales that last longer usually get the most bids, but they also take forever to end. It is also important to add a picture for the item, as they tend to sell more.
Lastly, choose the payment method you want to use; PayPal would be best, and where the post should send it.
Then, click on ‘Submit’ and that’s it!

4) Wait.
All you have to do now is sit back and wait. Buyers will eventually see the item you are selling and bid on it. Several buyers may ask questions and these should be answered as fast as possible. If you don’t sell the item, you can re-list it if you wish.

5) Get paid and send it.
The buyer will be sent an e-mail, wherein he will be guiding in the buying process. Ensure that the money is there that was agreed upon before sending it. Once the payment has been received, all that is left for you is to pack these items and posting them.

EbayEvery home shopper knows what eBay is. Even people who do not regularly shop online still know what eBay is. With so much power, eBay provides shopping ease as well as great bargains. Now and again, there may be some eBay fraud going on, particularly with fake designer items, concert tickets, and pricey electronics that don’t even exist in the real market.

eBay already does its best to try and solve these problems, but as a shopper, you can simply follow these steps to avoid being conned:

1. Take a look at the seller’s feedback.
If there is a very high feedback, that would be great. If there is a lot of recent negative feedback, that isn’t great. If there is negative feedback, read through it, too, to see if they’re reasonable and how the seller reacted to the feedback. In some cases, newer members who purchase items on eBay tend to be paranoid and leave negative feedback straight away, so ensure that the seller was good in his defense. If there are numerous similar complaints, however, then stay away from that particular seller.

2. Find the seller’s information.
If the seller comes with some sort of identification, you can ensure that he is reliable. This is essential mostly when you plan on buying something expensive. In this case, try to get the seller’s contact information, as well. You can request this through e-mail on eBay itself.

3. Ask questions before you bid.
If the seller is responsible, he should find no difficulties in answering any of your questions.

4. Look for the item’s pictures and description.
Having pictures of the item is essential, so that people will know that the item actually exists. There should always be at least one picture there. If there is no picture because the seller is too lazy to post one, let it be. Careless sellers are not worth dealing with, as the item could be broken or defective. Also, check the item description and try to find other shopping websites that may hold the same one. The description on eBay should be similar to the description found on other websites.

5. Ask about shipping terms.
If the seller does not mention any handling terms, bring it up. Do not start bidding on an item if there are no terms beforehand, otherwise you will have agreed to the conditions on the product and will have a harder time fighting for your rights later.
